Wounded Warriors Week
June 30 is Wounded Warriors Day in Georgia. On this occasion Ministry of Defense of Georgia organized Wounded Warriors Week in Tserovani, Maro Makashvili Rehabilitation Center. The opening event was attended by the founder of WWSF, George Ramishvili. Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili and Minister of Defense of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze addressed the invited audience with speeches. The event started with demonstration competition in cycling and continued with various sport competitions during the week.
George Ramishvili, founder of Wounded Warrior Support Foundation: “Today is an important day. Our country celebrates the wounded warriors’ day. These people defended our country in different wars at the cost of their lives and health. Some of them participated in international peace missions on behalf of Georgia as an ally country, in order to stand for peace in the world. The purpose of the WWSF founded by Silknet is to take care of these people and to ensure their well-being. In this we cooperate with the government and business. Our fund is joined by individual donations as well. I believe it is our obligation to show our appreciation to our heroes and provide their worthy being. Our fund cooperates with various international funds, such as British international charity foundation “Invictus Games Foundation” (IGF). Our Fund received a grant from IGF for purchasing seated basketball chairs for Georgia's wounded warrior team, established under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. Our wounded warrior team is participating in the upcoming Invictus Games to be held in Duesseldorf in September. The new seated basketball chairs will help them to get a good preparation for the games. I wish them success and well-being”.
