On September 28th the second charity run was held to support Georgian wounded warriors. This event was to honor the Georgian Defense Forces and help support their wounded warriors. All the money raised from this event, 6 300 GEL, was given to the Georgian Wounded Warrior Support Foundation.
The event was hosted by The Ministry of Defense and Defense Forces, along with the Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association (TDAA) and Wounded Warrior Support Foundation (WWSF). The first charity run was held last year with the initiative of Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association. This year the event was held even at a larger scale and became a traditional one.
The charity run was participated by military servicemen of Georgian Defense Forces and wounded servicemen, Defense Volunteer Organizations and Georgian Diplomatic Community participate as well as their friends and family members.
The event had various sponsors and supporters. Lisi Lake Development Group provided the territory free of charge. Company Traillub provided its professional services tracking timing and race results, while this year there were three events: 3KM Fun Run/Walk, 5KM Competitive Trail Run, and 13KM Competitive Trail Run. The three fastest female and male participants were awarded with medals in both the 5KM and 13KM trail runs. First place winners got prizes from another event sponsor, Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel. The Georgian Ministry of Defense and Defense Forces hosted a barbecue after the race. Georgian Defense Forces Band was performing during the event the.
All participants received souvenir bracelets from the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation inscribed with: “Let’s unite for our heroes”.
This event was a great way to involve people in supporting the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation activities.
