Newly launched foundation will provide support not only to acting wounded military officers, but also to veterans injured during independence wars led by Georgia.
The following officials were present at the foundation ceremony: Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Defense, Mayor of Tbilisi, US Ambassador in Charge, Ambassadors of Austria, UK, Japan and France, Military Attachés, NATO Core Team and US Office for Defence Cooperation (ODC), wounded military officers, members of Business Association of Georgia etc. Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II blessed the fund. Members of Patriarchate were also present at the event.
Prime Minsiter and Defense Minister addressed the attendees and expressed their support to Silknet’s initiative. They also urged the private sector to join and participate in foundation’s activities.
Establishers of the Foundation are Silkent, represented by its General Director Davit Mamulaishvili and Paata Patiashvili, (former Chairman of Ministry of Defense Foundation). The board members are Giorgi Ramishvili (founder of Silk Road Group, Chairman of Supervisory Board of Silknet), Alex Topuria, Deputy Chairman (Member of Supervisory Board of Silknet and Silkroad Group) and Davit Mamulaishvili, who is also a Director of the Foundation.
Silknet undertook to donate not less than GEL 120,000 annually to the foundation and to permanently seek to increase the number of supporters of the Foundation. Company “Deti” has joined the initiative and intends to donate GEL 20 000 annually. “We took obligation to donate GEL 12,000 annually for the benefit of our heros. We believe this amount will increase year by year and other companies will join this important initiative. We are proud of our warriors and intend to give moral and material support by means of this Foundation” – said Giorgi Ramishvili, the founder of Silk Road Group.
