Silknet to launch “Wounded Warriors Support Foundation”

Warriors wounded at the battles for our Nation’s freedom and unity are the most valuable assets of our county – they represent the symbols of freedom and peace. It is an honorable duty of every single citizen to express our deepest gratitude and support. In the regard of the latter, support of the business sector as a corporate citizen is especially vital. Therefore, Silknet expressed its readiness to launch a Foundation, which will address these issues with special care.

On July 16th at 15:00, Silknet initiates a reception, where the public will get familiarized with the detailed plans and mission of “Wounded Warrior Support Foundation”.

This initiative is a continuation of important project that started in 2017 in the form of the foundation operating under the Ministry of Defense, which was aimed at supporting and financing of acting military stuff. Nevertheless, it became apparent that there was a need to expand the scope of potential donors as well as beneficiaries and let the private sector take the lead in the further development of the Foundation.

Hence, Silknet undertook to chair the Foundation, which will donate not less than GEL 120,000 annually and permanently seek to increase the number of supporters of the Foundation. Silknet urges every business organization, charity foundation or simply a single citizen to join in and become a part of this important initiative.

The vision, mission and aims of the new fund will be based on transparent and responsible actions. The supervisory board will periodically report and update the public about the Foundation’s activities and lead an open communication about beneficiaries.

Wounded Military Officer Support Foundation was founded on March 25, 2016 as a legal entity under the Ministry of Defense. Foundation started functioning in 2017 and was primarily focused on needs of acting wounded military officers and their dependents. From the very beginning of its foundation, the Fund actively cooperates with US charity organizations (Give an Hour, AFF – Allied Forces Foundation, Azalea Charities). The Foundation financed several projects within the funds donated by abovementioned charitable entities. Nevertheless, based on best sustainability practices, it is not expedient Charity Foundations to be part of governmental entities. Stemming out of this, it became crucial to separate Foundation from Ministry of Defense to find a strong and reliable partner not only in terms of financial standing, but also its reputation and integrity.
